Stella Puppy here.
Okay, so, I ran away this morning. Well, it wasn't really "ran away" it was more like Single Girl wanted me in the house and I went up the street. Let me explain.
We both got up this morning and it was time for outside potty. I went in the backyard, fenced in if you remember, chased a rabbit, and had a sniff adventure for a good 25 minutes. Normally I only stay out for 5 minutes, but this morning I wanted a longer adventure.
Single Girl got ready for work: showered, got dressed, packed her lunch, etc. and came out to get me. Well, when she came to to get me, I wouldn't let her pick me up or grab my collar. Normally she does both because I have a tendency to run up the road. Anyway, as she opened the gate she told me, "House. Go to the house."
Wellllll, I started to go to the house, but my nose led and my feet just followed. Before I knew it I was running down the driveway and up the street. Oh, the smells. How I love all the different smells. I was running and smelling while Single Girl was yelling, "Stella, get back here!" I just couldn't. I had to keep going. The smells where so intoxicating.
I stopped at a great smell. What was it, I'm not real sure. As I looked back I saw Single Girl getting closer. No! She couldn't get me. I loved smelling the smells! So, I ran. This time in the street! I noticed there were no smells so back to the grass I went.
The next time I stopped, she got me and boy was she mad. "Don't you think you're going to get a potty treat after this!" "Oh, you're shaking. Good. You shouldn't have run away. " "Naughty." That's what I heard in my ear as Single Girl carried me the one block back to our house. I knew I was in trouble.
I didn't get a potty treat. Do I blame her? No, not really. But sometimes the smells are just so "calling." She left for work not very happy with me. When she got home she seemed a little better. It's a good thing that she had 8 or so hours to get over it or I think that I would still be in BIG doo-doo.
Ruff, Ruff!
