Well, yesterday was day 2 of daycare. It turns out that I left some details out of my last entry...see Single Girl found out some of these facts so I feel that I better share before she does. (Unless she already did.)
Day One...
Daycare Truths...
The stuff untold...
1. I spent a lot of time scratching at the door that leads to the lobby and barking.
2. When it was time to go outside to go potty...I refused to go. I was not going to pee infront of all of the new dogs. I did go when everyone else went in.
3. I spent most of my time next to the activity director.
4. Yes...it's true. I would go up to the others and be just fine but when they came to me I screamed. It's true.
It was stressful. I have only ever been the only dog...unless I had a playdate with my friend, Maggie, or my cousin, Lucy. I'm not used to 8 other dogs and being the new kid on the block.
Day 2
All truths...
I woke up soooo excited to go. Single Girl would say, "Daycare" and I would wag my tag and run to the door. I was excited to go and see all of my new friends. I got there and saw Kris, the nice lady who checks me in, and she took me up to the playroom. Well, all truths, right....ok....the other dogs got there and I forgot how scary it was. It was play time and I just walked around smelling all of the smells. I spent time by the activity guy and yes, went to the door and barked. On a good note, I didn't scream all day.
Let me explain it this way...Single Girl says that I'm like the loaner on the playground. The one who doesn't play at all...just walks around and watches everyone else. Well, I want everyone to know that even day 2 was scary and not only is it hard to be the newbee, it's hard to decide who you're going to play with. It takes time to figure out what motives they all have.
Single Girl is scared that I will be a daycare failure. I don't think so. I just need more time to adjust. I hear I'm going back 2 more times next week. I better rest up for more walking around the room and watching everyone else play. Or as I like to call it...playing detective.
Happy Weekend.
