This Spring and Summer I have had the best two buddies a girl could ask for. I'm not going to tell you their names, but they are bunny siblings. I have watched them grow and we have run around the yard. They would wait for me in the yard and as soon as I would see them we would run around the garden...lap 1, lap 2, lap 3, lap 4 and they would disappear into the flowers. We would play hide-n-seek and they would always win.
What good times.
Today, I found one of the siblings laying on their belly under the lilac bush. She had a broken back leg. I had to let Single Girl know that my friend was hurt. I barked and barked and barked and she finally came. She looked and told me that there was going to be nothing that we could do for my friend. She took me in the house so she could do more research! NO! I WANT TO BE BY MY FRIEND!
Single Girl came back to get me. Yes! HANG ON FRIEND, I'M COMING! I ran to my friend. She was in some pain, but hanging in there. I noticed as I was guarding her that Single Girl was crying. I wasn't sure why (if only I knew was was coming.)
OH!! BFF Maggie and her mom and dad are here!!! Maggie, come and see my friend. Then the next thing I know Maggie, her mom and Single Girl are by the house...and Maggie's dad is going by my friend with a big shovel. Single Girl calls it a spade. I didn't know what was going to happen and I'm not going to get into details, but I want you to know that I stayed by my friend the whole time and she is now at peace.
Single Girl took me in the house and I only wanted to go back out: where I last saw my friend. Why won't you let me out! WHY! WHY! WHY!
Good-bye my friend. Thank you for all of the fun times. I promise to take care of sibling.
Ruff, Ruff!
