Stella was to have a 2 night/3 day play date with her friend. (We'll call her Bette.) Bette was dropped off at 2:00 and by 3:30 she had jumped our backyard fence and was gone.
Really? Really? Are you kidding me?
So, I did the only thing that I knew to do. I called Bette's family and told them that she was gone. They hadn't gotten too far into their drive, so they came. While they were on their way, I called the only other person I knew who might be able to help me. The Vet. "Call the humane society and the police dept." Sounds good.
So, while I'm yelling at Stella because she did not bark as her friend escaped, I was dialing the humane society, who happened to be closed today, and then the police dept. At least that nice lady didn't make me feel guilty or should I say more guilty than I already did.
As I walked the few blocks around the house, I just kept wondering how the heck I was going to find this dog. By the time I got back to my house, Bette's family had shown up and were on the search.
The search lasted awhile until we stopped and asked a nice man at Auto Zone if he had seen a puppy. Turns out that he had. A lady had found her in the parking lot of Auto Zone, which is 1/2 a block down the road from our house. She tried to call Bette's family, but they didn't answer. So, seeing that she wasn't from here, she took Bette to her mom's house for her to take the Humane Society tomorrow.
Well, after a few phone calls, we have Bette back. She is resting comfortably in her OWN home and will be going along on the family trip tomorrow.
So.....1. no sleep-over for Stella Puppy and her friend. 2. When you want to go along with your family, run-away, it works. 3. To Bette.....NEXT TIME TELL ME YOUR PLAN SO I CAN BE IN ON IT!!
